Matthew 19:13-15

There are certain attitudes that prop themselves up against the high calling of Jesus Christ. The disciples, neglecting the grace that walked among them, took it upon themselves to rebuke parents that had committed the high sin of desiring Jesus Christ to pray for them! Clearly, this attitude dishonors Christ as Christ rebukes the disciples, saying, “Let the little children come unto me for unto such belongs the Kingdom of Heaven!”

While there are many more, seven heart attitudes prop themselves up against a true, child-like faith:

  1. A heart that has abandoned its first love.
  2. A heart that rebuses repentance.
  3. A heart that assigns guilt wrongfully.
  4. A heart that aids and abets the enemies.
  5. A heart that assumes salvation.
  6. A heart that absconds grace.
  7. A heart that maintains arrogant piety.

While there are many more ways in which we should imitate children, four ways will suffice for today.

  1. Childlike innocence.
  2. Childlike trust.
  3. Childlike hope.
  4. Childlike glory (towards the parents).

Remember, dear brother or sister, do not be puffed up in self-righteousness, but come unto Christ like a child and you will find a God capable of caring for you better than the greatest parent ever could!
