Matthew 17:1-8 gives us a mighty glimpse into the identity of Christ; appearing as a light as bright as the sun, Jesus reveals His Deity to Peter, James and John. A voice speaks from a cloud which overshadowed them saying, “This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased. Listen to Him!” The disciples fall, terrified at the voice just to hear the Son say, “Fear not!”
We are often tempted to look for signs and experiences like this, but at the end of the day, Scripture must be sufficient! God is speaking to you even now, but we may not like how He most often does it. God speaks to you even now through the Word which He breathed out long ago and in the Word which He so carefully preserved for you for thousands of years.
If you want to see Jesus transfigured, it is time to dive into the Word of God!
